DADS looking for parental advice need look no further than a Berwick Salvation Army course starting next week.
The highly successful Pit Stop program is being held in conjunction with the City of Casey and is limited to 30 fathers.
Dubbed ‘a parenting tune-up’, the eight-week interactive course covers many issues, including helping fathers improve family communication as well as support in balancing work and family commitments.
Salvation Army captain Craig Exon said it was often easier for mothers to get support and guidance before their male counterparts.
“The course was pioneered by Rob Koch from City of Casey, and we have picked it up and run with it because we believe in equipping fathers to be the best dads they can,” he said.
Mr Exon, who will run the free course, said other factors made it hard for men raising children.
“We also see that with financial stress and mortgage pressure, a program like this helps us men to be able to work proactively with our children to guide them through the times we are living in,” he said.
The course starts on Tuesday, 22 July, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, at the Berwick Salvation Army Community Church, Parkhill Drive, Berwick.
For more information or to register contact Craig Exon on 9704 1940 or 0418 566 681.
