Heart attack linked to crash

POLICE believe a 72-year-old Narre Warren man probably suffered a heart attack before colliding with a traffic light last Friday night.
Following the collision, the man was taken to Dandenong Hospital, where he later died.
Police this week said they were still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and would now prepare a report for the Coroner.
Acting Senior Sergeant Nicholas Vallas of Narre Warren Police said all indications were that the man’s death was not a result of the collision.
“We believe he may have suffered a heart attack prior to the collision. Obviously this will be subject to a coronial inquiry which will determine the cause,” he said.
The collision occurred on Narre Warren North Road, above the Monash Freeway, at about 7pm.
Police believe the car was travelling south towards Cranbourne when it hit the traffic light.
Narre Warren police, Casey’s Traffic Management Unit and ambulance officers attended the scene.
