THE week started off well for Hampton Park with the Victorian Ladies’ Bowls Association A2 team scoring a good win over Cranbourne at home 2/123 to 0/90.
After a sluggish start, Ray Wood, Mavis Kelly, Ann Westwell and skip Chris Hendrie went into overdrive to record a 28-shot win, 44-16.
In a well-balanced game that saw the lead change many times, Rhonda Diaper, June Damon, Gail Wilcock and skip Mary Hose were in front at the finish to win by four shots, 25-21.
Large multiples on 12 ends enabled Keith Damon, Joyce Cameron, Shirley Burnside and skip Heather Naismith to get over the line by 11 shots, 35-24.
Winning only one end in the last 10 made it hard for Gail Williams, Rob Woff, Andrew Brandolin and skip Grace Hogan to stay in front, the lead slipping as they lost 29-19.
The Hampton Park Royal Victorian Bowls Association (RVBA) Division Four side played Dandenong RSL/Rec at home.
Vince Kovacic, Ken Cobden, Zac Storm and skip Geoff Ladner scored seven shots on the last two ends to get up and win 30-24.
Winning 17 of the 25 ends allowed Pat Moevasa, Lance Davis, Geoff Ampt and skip Bob Woodfield to control the game to set up an 18-shot win, 34-16.
By winning eight ends in a row in the first half, Sean McDonald, Larry Simpson, Bernie Braggeman and skip Neville Hendrie held their lead to win by seven shots, 27-20.
With the scores level at the halfway mark, Les Unwin, Mark Paton, Robert Naismith and skip Graham Slight slowly moved ahead of the opposition to win 27-21, the side winning 18/118 to 0/81.
The Hampton Park RVBA Division Seven side travelled to Cranbourne.
Ray Leggett, Jim Westwell, Ray Wood and skip Alan Wilcock saw the lead change many times and missed a win by a shot, 23-22.
A strong finish made the difference for Jos Van Hout, Paul Barna, Allan March and skip Rob Woff, giving them a five-shot win, 27-22.
This game was won on the last end with Keith McCarthy, Greg Pentland, Robert Meaney and skip Fred McBrian sneaking in by a shot, 24-23.
George Pettitt, Allan Unwin, Keith Damon and skip Andrew Brandolin opened up a big lead and kept it to win 30-17 as Hampton Park 16/103 defeated Cranbourne (6) 2/85 by 18 shots.
The Bankers had another good turnout at the club with Geri Graafsma, Rudy Oost and Gerry Cox being the winners and Ann Westwell, Gail Wilcock and Brian Diaper runners-up.
Club singles’ second round deadline is 4 November.
