‘Good minds’ stand up

SPRINGFIELD Ward councillor Ben Clissold has called for “good minds” of all ages to consider running for council in the November elections. Cr Clissold said there was a good possibility that there would be a large changeover of councillors in November.
“The last election brought six new councillors, and people can make their own judgements about the relative performance of the last council compared to this one. Who knows how many new councillors might be elected?
“However, if there’s going to be a change, there needs to be good candidates to take the spots,” he said. Cr Clissold said angry people and people with oversized egos, tended not to make good councillors because they were not able to work as a team and put the community first. “People experienced in management would be a bonus; councillors direct a $150 million budget.” Cr Clissold said.
Cr Clissold said that ultimately it was most important to have candidates who cared about the community. Information is available from www.casey.vic.gov.au/elections. Nominations are open between October 20 and 25 and postal voting runs from November 8 to 25.
