THE 2006 Commonwealth Games may be a distant memory but students at Fountain Gate Primary School are retaining their sporting spirit.
Last Thursday, grade one and two students at the Narre Warren school took part in a novelty sports day as a finale to their recent Commonwealth Games studies.
Teacher Helen Robertson said students had enjoyed a variety of fun games and activities, with the emphasis on participation not competition.
Children enjoyed egg and spoon races, a gumboot throw, relay races, hockey, tunnel ball, a bean bag toss and quoits. They also completed a fitness track.
Ms Robertson said all students were presented with home-made medals at the end of the sports day.
