THE Hallam Country Fire Authority was on the scene in record time recently when a car veered across the station’s front lawn before ploughing into a nearby fence.
It was a case of deja vu for the Belgrave-Hallam Road station. In April, a white Commodore crashed into the station’s foyer after a two-car collision.
In the most recent incident, a Commodore swerved across the station’s lawn just after midnight on Sunday, 16 July before smashing through a wooden fence and into the corner of a brick unit.
No-one inside the home was injured, but Senior Constable Martin Read of Endeavour Hills Police said the 22-year-old driver sustained minor injuries.
The Altona resident has since been charged with exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit and careless driving. Sen Const Read said the car’s two other occupants were uninjured.
Ambulance officers also attended.
