Fatal blaze now suspicious

HOMICIDE Squad detectives are investigating a Narre Warren house fire after the results of a postmortem examination revealed a 37-year-old woman, whose remains were discovered in the house, was already dead before the fire commenced.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the Darling Way house fire on Sunday 14 December, to come forward.
Emergency services discovered the remains of the woman when they were called out to the single storey house at 1.30am.
At the time the fire was deemed non-suspicious.
Investigators now believe her injuries suggest foul play.
Police said an unknown male, who was present when the fire was extinguished, is believed to have seen a green Ford sedan flee from the area shortly before the fire was reported.
Police have since been unable to contact this witness and would like to speak to him or anyone else who may be able to assist them with their inquiries.
Anyone with information regarding the fire is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
