BERWICK’S Rossmoyne Family Resource Centre was the scene of Casey Council’s official launch of its fiveyear family and children’s services strategy last week.
The importance of the strategy in Casey is obvious with figures showing the City is home to more than 15,000 infants and preschoolers, as well as more than 22,000 primary schoolaged children.
This growth rate is likely to continue for the next 15 years.
Casey mayor Neil Lucas said that council recognised the need for a strategic approach to the planning and provision of services to families and children.
“Casey has a key role in ensuring that infrastructure and services are available, coordinated and accessible to families, which will support the development of active, confident and resilient children,” Cr Lucas said.
The strategy was developed following consultation with health and education service providers, City of Casey Community Services staff and parents.
“We are very confident that this strategy will provide direction for the strengthening of important partnerships between parents and professionals,” Cr Lucas said.
“It will assist us to work together to provide comprehensive services, and contribute towards happy and healthy childhood development and positive experiences for parents.”
