Drought advice for landholders

CASEY land holders and rural business owners are encouraged to attend an information session on drought assistance next Tuesday.
The Rural Landowners Association of Narre Warren North, Harkaway and Berwick will host the meeting, which will provide farm-based businesses information on services and assistance available through Centrelink. Casey mayor Colin Butler said the drought was a real issue for many Casey residents.
“The drought continues to create serious difficulties for land holders in the City of Casey area and I would encourage those who require assistance to take advantage of the helpful advice offered at this information session,” Cr Butler said.
“As a farmer myself, I understand the hardships caused by this drought, so I urge all local farmers and farm-related business operators to attend this information session so that they can get a clear understanding of how to seek the appropriate assistance,” he said.
The Department of Primary Industries will also provide advice on livestock, feeding and grazing management at the session, and the Casey-Cardinia agribusiness officer will also provide an update on associated drought related activities.
The information session will be held from 7.30am to 9.30am at the Narre Warren North Hall, Abeckett Rd, Narre Warren North. Refreshments will be provided.
