Doves get going just in time

DOVETON’S inconsistent play continued on Saturday against Tooradin when the Doves got in front for the first time in the final two seconds and won by a solitary point. It was a frustrating match for the Doves with Tooradin playing a possession style game.
The Doves trailed at the first break by three goals and then at half-time by five. Coach Steve Henwood questioned the players’ commitment at half-time and in the second half they showed why they are such a dangerous team, keeping Tooradin goalless in the third quarter and outscoring the Seagulls by four goals in the last.
Aaron McIver showed his versatility playing in the midfield and up forward He play a great game and finished with two goals. David George was best for the Doves, holding up the back line and saving the Doves from a second Robinson Oval loss this year. Brad Downe showed his class in the second half and played a hard running game out of defence.
Scores: Doveton 10.11.71 d Tooradin-Dalmore 11.4.70.

The young Doves continued their good form with another 100-plus point win over Tooradin. This showed up forward with Daniel Zajac kicking four goals and Jake Schiavello and Matt Stocco both finishing with two. The Doves ended up winning by 114 points and moved into third spot on the ladder.
