Doubles up at Cranbourne

CRANBOURNE trained horses won two of the nine races at last Thursday’s meeting with district-based jockeys Brian Park and Matthew Allen joining the party with doubles on the day.
Training honours went to Melbourne’s leading mentor Lee Freedman and Mornington trainer Tony Noonan, who both scored doubles on the afternoon.
Top local trainer Robbie Griffiths started two horses in the second race, the Class 3 Handicap, and both took a share of the spoils with odds-on favourite Can Lago, ridden by Brad Rawiller, taking out the race and Zwahillion (Reece Wheeler) finishing a close third.
The other locally prepared victor was Grant Dalziel’s Bella Sorrento, which won the Maiden Plate over 2025 metres.
Ridden patiently by Park, Bella Sorrento scooted away to win untroubled by two lengths at odds of $7.50.
Langwarrin-based Park later combined with Noonan to take out the afternoon’s feature race, the Class 4 Handicap, with $3.40 favourite Postcode.
Berwick jockey Allen was successful on Freedman winners Flame Of Sydney in race one and Sonic Quest in the fourth event.
