Dolls make a big showing

DOLLS for all ages will be on display in Berwick next week when a major exhibition is held.
The Australian Clothdoll Association will take over the Old Cheese Factory on Sunday, 6 May with a range of dolls.
The event, dubbed From Cloth to Clay, will showcase cloth dolls, bears, country dolls along with paper clay and papier-mache designed items.
Club president and Narre Warren South resident Kerrie Markham said doll making was a popular hobby for many people. “We have members from everywhere. We have interstate members and we also have a busload coming up from Geelong for the show,” Ms Markham said.
She said a doll could take up to a week to make – depending on the detail and design.
“There is so much work that goes into making them.”
She said the exhibition catered for all ages and would include competitions and hints on how to make the dolls.
“Some people might really be interested and want to get into it. We are always looking for new members so this is a great way to come and find out more,” Ms Markham said.
The event next Sunday at The Old Cheese Factory, 34 Homestead Road, Berwick, starts at 10am and goes through to 4pm.
Adult entry is $5 with children $3. For more information contact Kerrie Markham on 8790 5336.
