Deadline looms for choice

CASEY residents have until tomorrow (Friday) to nominate their choice for next year’s Citizen of the Year Awards.
City of Casey chief executive officer Mike Tyler said all nominations were recognised and provided a great way to celebrate an individual’s ongoing contribution to the Casey community and to appreciate their efforts in making Casey a great place to live.
The five categories are: Citizen, Young Citizen, Senior Citizen, Non-resident and Community Event of the Year.
“Your friend, neighbour or local legend could be announced as one of the 2006 Citizens of the Year, which would give them an exciting year of opportunities, personal development and a taste of public life, but they must be nominated by Friday, 25 November,” Mr Tyler said.
Nominations for Community Event of the Year close on Friday, 6 January 2006 to enable events held later in the year to be eligible.
A community panel will consider the nominations and all nominees will be recognised and winners announced at a special ceremony on Australia Day, 26 January 2006.
To nominate pick up a nomination form from Council’s Customer Service Centres, phone 9705 5200 or visit the council’s website,www.casey.vic.gov.au/australiaday
