SINCE moving to Australia from China a decade ago, artist David Chen has found inspiration for his paintings around every corner.
With 22 years’ experience up his artsmock sleeves, Mr Chen has been putting much of his talent to good use, assisting the Very Special Kids organisation by donating time, paintings and money to children who are terminally ill.
With a variety of oil paintings and watercolour works, his landscapes, portraits and figurative pieces have given more than he otherwise bargained they could.
“I have been involved with VSK for many years because I have a feeling for those kids with a terminal disease,” he said.
“Every little bit helps for these kids. It helps keep them happy and helps in some cases to pay for treatment and other things they can’t afford.”
Mr Chen’s latest donation to VSK was a painting called Beach at Sorrento, valued at $2700. Along with paintings that are auctioned off to raise money, Mr Chen also donates money from the popular art classes he holds.
“The workshop I hold is for artists who want to improve their skills and that money is donated to the VSK,” Mr Chen said proudly.
