Danny dumps Doves

By Brad Kingsbury
DOVETON premiership full-forward Danny Casset has walked out on a two-year deal with the Doves to play with Southern Football League battlers Parkmore.
Casset has agreed to play with the SFL division-three club next year, despite confirming his intention to honour his two-year commitment to the Doves publicly only a few weeks ago.
Casset, who has been a prolific goal kicker in several top-level leagues for more than a decade, has been lured to the struggling Pirates by new coach and sponsor, Richard Houston, who is also the chief executive of finance company Fintrack.
Houston, who is financing Parkmore’s 2006 campaign, said that Casset and former Hampton Park defender Terry McKinley were the first of several high-quality recruits he expected to sign over the coming weeks.
After Casset accepted his offer, Houston said he had an informal discussion with Doveton coach Steve Henwood and was aware that Casset had a financial commitment to the Doves that would need to be settled prior to his transfer.
Casset said he was not chasing money but wanted to help his old junior club that went through 2005 winless. He said that Parkmore also provided a junior club at which his young sons could play.
However, Henwood said that although he was aware of his enigmatic star’s attempt to move, he had already agreed to play with the Doves next year and he was expected to honour that agreement.
