BUDDING film students at the Narre Community Learning Centre (NCLC) have made their movie debut with a short film that explores some of the tough issues teenagers face.
‘Cross Roads’ premiered to an audience of more than 100 on Wednesday, 3 October, with many people moved by the 45-minute film.
Produced by six Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) students, the film tackles the issues of youth homelessness, teenage pregnancy, suicide and depression.
Students spent six months working on the film and youth manager and VCAL coordinator Lisa Thomas said the final result was amazing.
Ms Thomas said the students had each completed an individual section of the film as well as working together.
She said the students had been keen to highlight some of the issues that young people faced and audience feedback from the screening had been very positive.
VCAL student Carley Gray said she would love to make another film and had a lot of fun producing Cross Roads with her fellow classmates.
The teenager said the class had been keen to delve a bit deeper into the issues that young people face and highlight these to their audience.
Fellow student Kath Gray said she had also really enjoyed being part of the project.
Ms Gray said it was important that people realised what teenagers went through and she was pleased with the great feedback and interest the film had generated.
