Creative skills from A to Z

STUDENTS at the Narre Community Learning Centre have used creativity to strengthen their teamwork skills.
One of the centre’s Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) classes recently completed a sixmetre mural featuring the letters of the alphabet.
The mural was then presented to the centre’s creche on Tuesday.
Youth services coordinator Anthea Welsh said the project had been part of the students’ professional development program.
“They all worked out their creative differences and it was a real team effort,” she said.
The class of eight used paints donated from Bristol and Paint City in Narre Warren to complete the project and also ran a sausage sizzle to raise more funds.
“A fundraising barbecue was also organised with sausages donated and a barbecue loaned from the Old Cheese Factory in Berwick to pay for the rest of the materials,” Ms Welsh said.
Trista West, 17, said the group began the project in May when they started brainstorming ideas and thinking about different designs.
Classmate Steven Hogg, 17, of Pakenham Upper said they had chosen to feature the alphabet in the mural as they felt this was a good way of helping young people learn their letters.
