CRANBOURNE Bowling Club took it up to Croydon in this week’s Pennant Bowls, Metro One Division, but the home side drew away to win by nine shots.
Cranbourne won only one rink – that of Ray Travica – but was narrowly beaten on the other three.

Cranbourne (2) hosted Mulgrave Country Club and claimed a 16-shot victory. Cranbourne led by nine shots at the break and continued to play well.
Cranbourne won two rinks and drew one, with John Pentreath’s rink starring with a 15-shot margin.

Cranbourne (3) showed its strength to defeat a competent Parkdale side by six shots on their own turf.
Cranbourne won three rinks, with skips Rob Paddon and Mick Rowswell the stars with margins of 10 and nine shots respectively.

Cranbourne (4) proved too strong for the Balmoral Gardens side in an important match, and will retain fourth position on the ladder.
The side started well and went to a big lead at the break, but Balmoral Gardens fought back to close the margin to 11.
Cranbourne won two rinks well, with skips Matt Boltong and Roger Roscoe victories ensuring victory.

Cranbourne (5) fought back late against Oakleigh side but went down by eight shots.
Sofia Raiti and Len Patterson were the only winners.

Cranbourne (6) accounted for Caulfield Park by 36 shots at home.
This was a very consistent performance by all rinks, with Rob Sorensen scoring a 13-shot margin.

Cranbourne (1) hosted top side Dandenong Club in Ladies Pennant, but lost an even match by 14 shots.
Lyn Whalley and Shirley Venville won Cranbourne’s two rinks, with margins of 10 and seven shots respectively.

Cranbourne (2) was outbowled by a competent Dandenong City side to the tune of 32 shots.
Cranbourne was never in the match although it won two rinks in the contest.

Cranbourne ladies won their first Saturday match of the season with a four-shot margin over Somerville.
Both sides won a rink each with Mary Anne Allen’s team the victors by six shots.
