CRANBOURNE Cricket Club’s turf-one side had a tough day at the office on the first day of the round eight two-day fixture on Saturday.
The side was set a mammoth task of scoring 309 for victory against Parkfield this week.
Dropped chances proved costly for Cranbourne with Ross Woodall being the best of the bowlers with 3/66.

Cranbourne put in a solid bowling and fielding performance against Parkfield, limiting it to 186. Andrew Toan with 5/38 was the standout performer.

Cranbourne was served well by Shane Rees who took 5/90 and Wayne Cornwall 3/60, but could not dismiss Sandown Park that finished the day on 9/353, setting Cranbourne a big task this week.

Playing Berwick at home, Cranbourne’s Mark Notaro bowled superbly to take 5/17 in the opponent’s score of 9/223. Cranbourne is still in the hunt for a win.

A strong batting performance from Ryan Craven with 65 not out, Silvio Marinelli 55 and Michael Ewin 35 saw Cranbourne to a total of 244 against Lynbrook.

Shannon Parkin continued his good form in Saturday’s match against Lyndale, top scoring with a well-made 65 in Cranbourne’s 9/213.

Cranbourne was bowled out for 89 and trounced by the Southern Pirates who finished on 0/96.

Cranbourne tore through Hallam’s top order, thanks to Dan Hunt’s figures of 4/13, setting up a good win.

The Gold players batted and bowled well, with the standout batsmen being T. Jellie 21 not out, W. McGindle 10 not out, T. Stoneman 11 not out and better bowlers T. Jellie1/1 and B. Greenbugh 1/14.
The Blues Matt Crozier 16 and Harley Miller were the best with the bat, while bowling accolades went to Mitchell Whitam who took a hat-trick and finished with 3/6 and Jake Smith 3/7.
