Council seeks stadium comments

CASEY residents have been invited to submit their comments on the draft planning study for the Timbarra Community Stadium.
The proposed development would be situated at Parkhill Drive, Berwick, adjacent to Timbarra Primary School, and would help service Narre Warren and surrounding communities.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said the proposed stadium would be a valuable asset to the community.
“Timbarra Stadium would help fulfil the high demand for an indoor sport and community facility in the city’s north, and respond to the needs of many local basketball clubs.”
A previous study, the Narre Warren and Environs Recreation Facilities Study, which was conducted by the council a couple of years ago, identified a lack of available, affordable and locally accessible basketball courts.
The Edrington Ward councillors both enthusiastically endorse the proposed stadium. Cr Mick Morland said the proposed Timbarra Community Stadium would help address the sporting needs of the Narre Warren-Berwick area, including providing a training facility for one of Casey’s largest sporting teams, the Oatlander Outlaws Basketball Club.
Cr Brian Hetherton also encouraged members of the local community to provide written submissions on their approval for the proposed stadium development and any future development for the area.
With support from the Sport and Recreation Victoria Community Facilities Funding Program and the City of Casey, Stratcorp Consulting has completed the Timbarra Community Stadium Planning Study to investigate the feasibility of such a stadium.
