Chris fires while Narre flops

A FIVE-WICKET haul by Narre Warren turf one side’s Chris Pentland wasn’t enough to save it from a comprehensive defeat at the hands of Dandenong West in a low-scoring game at the weekend.
Narre Warren was bowled out for 91 with John Simpson top scoring with 21, before its opponents made 129, highlighted by figures of 5/38 from Narre Warren’s Chris Pentland.

Narre Warren travelled to Frog Hollow to play Hallam-Kalora Park where it won the toss and batted. After cruising to 2/141, two quick wickets before tea had the score at 4/152 off 43 overs. Wickets continued to fall after tea for Narre Warren to be all out for 198. Best of the batting was Martin Green (61), Paul Milo (43) and Dean Martin (36). Narre had 11 overs to bowl with Hallam KP finishing at 0/22.

Narre Warren played away at St Brigid’s/St Louis.
Narre bowled first, dismissing the opposition for 59, with Trevor Moon taking 9/18. Narre Warren was 8/163 at stumps with Dave Orchard making 71, John Easton 27 and Craig Mentiplay 20.

Playing Buckley Ridges, Narre Warren won the toss and elected to bat with three unders 13s and two under 15s in the side. Narre Warren got off to a slow start, but had two good partnerships with Steven Kidd 50 not out and James van Dam 38 not out. At compulsory closure the score was 5/120.
Buckley Ridges in reply lost a wicket in the first over and then the next partnership put on 60 runs. After this the wickets fell steadily reaching the target runs at 7/127. It was excellent bowling by Steven Kidd 3/12, James van Dam 1/12 and under-13 player Jarryd Straker 1/9.

In the first game after the Christmas break, Narre Warren 68 was defeated by St. Mary’s 9/109. Playing one man short, Narre had a tough task, but to its credit played hard all game. Glenn Wilson 2/27 and 42 with the bat was the pick of the players, supported well with the ball by Anthony Folino 2/35 and Jake McKenzie 2/18.

Playing Buckley Ridges, Narre Warren won the toss and batted, making a modest tally of 8/84 off 20 overs.
Best of the batsmen were Roman Jutoff 10, Ben Rotheram nine, Shavintha Goodawardana nine and Kushal Khan nine. Narre Warren then let itself down with misfields and dropped catches costing it a win.

Playing Maranatha in a one-day game, Narre Warren batted first and made 121 off 20 overs with the best of the bats being Mark Blanco 56 and Chris Blanco 23.
The Narre bowlers were too short and Maranatha won the game by three wickets finishing on 7/136.

With Narre Warren and Narre North teams both highly placed, this game was always going to be an excellent spectacle.
Batting first, Narre Warren finished at 1/121 off 20 overs with Lashlan Jayasuriya, Matthew Clarke and Dylan Quirk all retiring. In reply Narre North batted well to finish only three runs short with Nathan King the most economical bowler.

Playing Coomoora, Narre Warren won the toss and decided to bowl. After a promising start in the field, extras took hold and Coomoora finished its innings at 80.
The chase was on with Daniel Druch providing the fight, finishing with 13 and the team with 7/41 at the end of its overs.
