STUDENTS from the City of Casey joined peers from across the globe for the World Maths Day Challenge recently.
Eumemmerring College students were among the hundreds of locals to take part in the event, which involves each student logging on to a computer and completing several mental arithmetic questions.
Gleneagles campus maths coordinator Emmanuel Camilleri said students competed in real time battles of speed and skill against other participants of the same age and ability.
“Students are excited about competing with other students around the world, utilising their maths skills to answer questions correctly,” Mr Camilleri said.
He said the program was a great way for students of all ability levels to participate in a global celebration of mathematics.
“It is a unique way to promote numeracy in an interactive and fun way,” he said.
