Casey wins award

THE City of Casey recently won the Adult Multicultural Education Service (AMES) Full Participation Local Government Award for 2005.
Mayor Cr Kevin Bradford said he was delighted at the achievement which recognises the City of Casey’s ongoing efforts to address the needs of its diverse multicultural community.
“The City of Casey has a vibrant and diverse community and council is committed to including residents of cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds in its many programs and activities,” he said.
Cr Bradford said Casey’s Access and Equity Program, the Advisory Committee and grants, Multicultural Friendship Group (eMerge) for young people, special celebratory days and weeks, planning for the Casey Multicultural Community Centre, the Casey Refugee and Culturally Diverse Youth Action Plan and the new Hello Cards as some of the initiatives which helped the council earn the prestigious AMES Award.
AMES has been the largest provider of English language services in Victoria and has expanded to become a major supplier of specialist employment and training services in Melbourne and Sydney.
