BERWICK’S Will Orders endured another tough weekend as the Australian Rally Championship stopped in Western Australia for round two.
Orders and co-driver Toni Feaver finished fifth overall in their Subaru Impreza STI after fifth and ninth placings respectively in the two legs, but once again suffered through car problems.
“It’s all part of the sport, so we just sort of deal with it and try to make things last a little bit longer,” Orders said.
“We’ll be doing a bit of research over what happened and why it happened.”
The driving conditions were less than ideal as competitors fought torrential rain and the subsequent slippery roads.
It made navigating the course even more difficult for the privateer duo, who had never seen – let alone raced – it before.
“We’re not a big-budget team, so we do not have a lot of time for testing,” Orders said.
“We went into the rally not knowing what was going to happen or what the conditions were going to be like, so I think we handled ourselves reasonably well.”
Round three heads to the nation’s capital for the Rally of Canberra, which will be held on 2 and 3 June.
“Depending on our money status there should no reason the car shouldn’t be 110 per cent better than what it was, and we’ll have fixed the problem as to why it wrecked itself and have rectified it and made it better,” Orders said.
