NARRE Warren South residents can now get to Dandenong with ease following a major upgrade to a local bus route.
Route 892, which runs between Narre Warren South and Dandenong, will now run more regularly during the week and will have longer operating hours.
There will also be a new Sunday service on the route.
Public Transport Minister Lynne Kosky said the improvements would make travel between Dandenong and Narre Warren South a lot easier.
“Route 892 now runs until 9pm on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays, with a Saturday timetable operating on public holidays and a Sunday timetable operating on Christmas Day and Good Friday,” Ms Kosky said.
Changes have also been made to Route 893 between Cranbourne and Dandenong.
“Route 893 has been operating until 9pm on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays since improvements were introduced in 2006,” Ms Kosky said.
“To complement this we are now also increasing the frequency of services on weekdays.”
Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley said the bus route improvements were a significant boost to local residents.
“The changes to routes 892 and 893 represent a combined 292 additional weekday services to help residents travel to work, attend appointments, visit family and friends visit Casey Central and Cranbourne Park shopping centres and link to Dandenong Railway Station,” she said.
“I’m hopeful that these improvements will encourage more people to leave their cars at home and take advantage of the ease and cost-effectiveness of using an efficient public transport service.
The improved services started on Monday.
