STUDENTS at a Doveton school had reason to celebrate last week when a host of new facilities were unveiled.
Victorian Senator Mitch Fifield visited Maranatha Christian School on Thursday to officially open the campus’s new first aid and sick room, staff room, office facilities and new reception area.
The school funded a majority of the new building works but received a $50,000 Federal Government grant for the refurbishment through the Investing in Our Schools program.
During the opening ceremony, students sang the National Anthem and Pastor Crosbie De Kretser from the Casey Christian Reformed Church read an opening prayer.
The Primary Choir also performed All Things Bright and Beautiful under the musical direction of Michelle Smith and school captain Grace Fraraccio gave a Bible reading.
Senator Fifield then addressed students about Australia’s educational values before officially opening the facility.
Principal Andrew Mackenzie said the new facilities were a great addition to the school and had been well received by the campus’s 270 students and all staff.
During his visit Mr Fifield also announced that Maranatha Christian School’s Officer campus would receive $450,000 for four new classrooms.
