THREE local groups are reaping the rewards from a local supermarket rewards program.
Narre Warren South P-12 College, Hampton Park CFA and Narre Warren CFA have received money from Narre Warren South FoodWorks.
More than $5000 was donated to community organisations through the Foodworks Rewards Program with many Casey groups sharing the cash.
FoodWorks manager Nathan Pasco said the store encouraged shoppers to sign up and have a percentage of their shopping bill donated to their chosen group.
“This year we are donating a record total of $5202.44 throughout the local community. This is obviously a significant amount of money but we aim to increase this amount over 2007-08,” Mr Pasco said.
He said Narre Warren South P-12 College students were the big winners with just under $3000 being donated to the school.
College principal Ross Miller said the school and FoodWorks enjoyed a strong partnership with the business sharing the same community focus as the college.
“The current funding will support the continual improvement of the college grounds, in particular the junior school grounds,” Mr Miller said.
“Our aim is for the students to be involved in the planning, implementation, and nurturing of their grounds to establish a pleasing environment for the college and community.
“Previously, the community rewards program has supported development of facilities, with contribution to the installation of the physical education centre’s curtain creating spaces for multiple users,” he said.
Hampton Park CFA will use the donated money to buy a saw that can cut through roller doors and metal window frames to assist in fire rescue.
Narre Warren CFA will use the funding to assist in the purchase and fit out of its new station.
