Boost for Magpies’ clubrooms

Casey councillor Rob Wilson, Narre Warren Magpies Football-Netball Club junior coordinator Chris Donaldson, councillor Paul Richardson and netballer Britti Donaldson give the thumbs up to the change room upgrade.Casey councillor Rob Wilson, Narre Warren Magpies Football-Netball Club junior coordinator Chris Donaldson, councillor Paul Richardson and netballer Britti Donaldson give the thumbs up to the change room upgrade.

NARRE Warren footballers and netballers have given the all clear to a $550,000 upgrade of their Kalora Park clubrooms.
The funding will come from Casey Council’s 2007-08 budget and will result in a major extension to the current rooms.
The Narre Warren Magpies Football-Netball Club, affiliated with the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League, will be the major beneficiary of the redevelopments.
Hundreds of juniors players at Narre North Foxes Junior Football Club will also benefit from the upgrades.
Netball president Danielle Dawson said the club was thrilled with the news.
She said the netballers had been using cars, toilets and a temporary portable change room to get ready before training and on match days.
“The money has been allocated and we are just waiting on the final stamp of approval,” Ms Dawson said.
She said the new area would also be vital in storing sporting equipment for both the netball and football teams.
Casey councillor Rob Wilson, who has led the push for the upgrades over the past two years, said he was delighted the money had finally been allocated.
He said he was reluctant to give a completion date for the redevelopment.
“It’s exciting for the girls. The works will start within the next financial year
“The girls play at the same time as the senior footballers and it is not really appropriate for them to have to share the same change rooms,” Cr Wilson said.
