Blind date led to love

JEAN Halley-Frame is forever thankful she accepted an invitation to a blind date more than 50 years ago.
The Berwick resident met her future husband, Bob, for the first time on that special night and the couple have been together ever since.
Jean, 72, and Bob, 77, were again smiling when they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
After meeting in England in 1953, Jean Critcher and Bob Halley-Frame married three years later and eventually settled in West Ham, London.
Two children, Robert and Lesley, followed but the bright shores of Australia came calling through an advertisement in a local paper and the Halley-Frame family set off to start a new life on the other side of the world.
That life has been smooth sailing for the couple since and Jean puts it down to one thing.
“Do things together. If you do it separately it won’t work out,” Jean said.
The couple celebrated their golden anniversary by enjoying a meal at an Endeavour Hills restaurant with their children and four grandchildren.
“It was lovely. They are a great family and we had a lovely time.”
Jean and Bob settled in Berwick several years ago to be close to their children who also live within the City of Casey.
The Narre Warren senior citizen members enjoy spending time at their local club and hit the streets to keep fit.
“We’re walkers. We walk for about 20 minutes most days,” she said.
Along with keeping active they are doing their best to stay young at heart with the help of their relatives.
“Our family is great. We couldn’t have wished for a more loving family,” Jean said.
