Birth group delivered

THE first ever Casey Birthing and Babies (BaBs) group was a hit last week with 11 mothers turning up to find out more about the new free service.
Casey BaBs founder and independent midwife Andrea Bilcliff said the group was established to help give mothers in the south-east practical information, education and support from a range of different experts in the field of birthing and parenting.
The informal group plans to meet every second and fourth Friday of each month during the school term and is encouraging more mothers to come along to see what all the fun is about.
Ms Bilcliff said the meetings are very informal and contain a mixture of pregnant women and women who have recently given birth.
“It was really good,” she said.
“We had a good turn out for the first meeting and we hope to get more mothers and their children to come along,” Ms Bilcliff said.
Casey BaBs differs from a playgroup as its main purpose is to educate and support mothers at all stages of their parenting life, she said.
The next meeting will take place on 26 October from 10am to noon at Oakgrove Community Centre, 89-101 Oakgrove Drive, Narre Warren South.
