THE City of Casey held a Big Day Out celebration for 40 people involved in council’s Youth Activities Service (YAS) program.
YAS is a recreational and personal development program for people aged 11 to 16 years living in Casey, attending school in the municipality or have a strong connection with the City of Casey.
Activities are designed to provide young people with an avenue to experience challenging and new activities, increasing selfesteem and selfconfidence.
Casey’s manager of youth and community development, Janette Green, said the Big Day Out encouraged participants to form new friendships and experience a sense of belonging to their community.
“The day was a great success,” she said.
“Young people enjoyed a mix of activities that encouraged active involvement and positive peer relations.
“Evaluations indicated that they enjoyed the day and had made many new friendships.”
YAS groups are held at Narre Warren South, Blind Bight, Cranbourne, Doveton, Pearcedale and Hampton Park. Groups rotate to different community venues.
For details on the YAS program, phone Rachael Persico on 9705 5200.
