Beep beep… lucky texter wins motor

By Rebecca Fraser
A NEW interactive shopping innovation has led to a Eumemmerring woman winning a brand new car.
Rosemary LaRue found out she had won a Mazda 2 Neo via text message when she was shopping at Westfield Fountain Gate.
Ms LaRue had been taking part in the Onspot Media shopping promotion, a new initiative that alerts shoppers to special deals and even prizes via their mobile phones.
Robyn Cowie, of Onspot Media, said this had been the first national trial of the interactive shopping program and more than 10,000 special deals had been sent to Fountain Gate shoppers.
She said four plasma screens had been set up inside the centre in December and shoppers had to text the code displayed on the screens to a special number to receive shopping deals and to go into a draw to win prizes.
She said Ms LaRue had won two prizes during the promotion – a $100 Westfield gift card as well as the new car.
On Friday, she was presented with the keys to her new car at Berwick Mazda.
