FEDERAL Education Minister Brendan Nelson visited Kambrya College in Berwick yesterday (Wednesday) to discuss education initiatives with the school’s staff and students.
Assistant principal John Shaw said they discussed how the school was meeting the growing needs of the Casey community and how they were dealing with the school’s large enrolments.
“We spoke about how we were maintaining our educational philosophy while dealing with the huge number of enrolments we are experiencing.
“We also discussed our plans to offer the International Baccalaureate to our middle years which we hope to apply for by the end of the year.
“As a global school with international students and staff we feel many of our students will greatly benefit from having this internationally recognised program,” he said.
Mr Shaw said Kambrya had worked closely with Latrobe MP Jason Wood to organise the visit.
“Brendan Nelson was also very interested to see how the school was progressing and we discussed ideas and suggestions about how things could be improved or other things that we could do,” he said.
Kambrya College currently has 980 students and 380 year seven students have enrolled for next year.
