BaBs starts up for mums

A NARRE Warren South group is giving mothers another option when it comes to childbirth.
With the ever-increasing number of new-borns in the local area, the Casey Birthing and Babies (BaBs) group will hold its first meeting tomorrow (Friday) and offer practical information, education and support from mothers, midwives and birth advocates.
BaBs has been established to help women and families make informed choices about pregnancy and parenthood in a safe and nurturing environment using peer group support as its forum.
The City of Casey, one of Victoria’s fastest growing municipalities, is viewed as an ideal place for the group to establish itself. Children up to the age of five years account for almost 10 per cent of the state’s population.
The group differs from a playgroup as its main purpose is to educate and support mothers at all stages of their parenting life.
Independent midwife Andrea Bilcliff will be involved with the group as well as women who have practical and current experience in birthing and bringing up babies.
The inaugural Casey BaBs meeting will be held at Oakgrove Community Centre, 89-101 Oakgrove Drive, Narre Warren South, from 10am to noon tomorrow.
The group aims to provide something for everyone, be it mothers-to-be, first-time mums or those with multiple children.
A variety of topics will be covered with guest speakers attending.
Children of all ages are most welcome.
For more information contact Andrea Bilcliff on 9704 2386 or email midwife@netspace.net.au.
