Awards turn 21

PAST recipients of the annual Australia Day Study Tour Awards have been invited to help celebrate the 21st anniversary of this important local program.
The City of Casey is hosting the reunion celebration to recognise the value and importance of these awards to young people and the community.
City of Casey manager Youth and Community Development Janette Green said the award was a great way for young people in Casey to become more knowledgeable and interested in all levels of government in Australia.
“The first Study Tour took place in 1985 and since its inception 163 young people have received the Australia Day Study Tour Award.
“This popular program provides a great opportunity for personal growth and development as well as fostering an interest in politics, community and current affairs,” she said.
Year 11 students or young people of an equivalent age living and/or studying in Casey can be nominated for the award, which provides the opportunity to learn and explore the three levels of Government in Australia Local, State and Federal.
The celebration will be held on Friday, 21 October 2005 at the City of Casey Civic Centre at 6.30pm for 7pm.
For further information on the Australia Day Study Tour Award celebration or the program itself, contact City of Casey Youth Development Officer Deilia Murray on 9705 5200.
