BERWICK Soroptimist Margot Lucas has been acknowledged for her community minded efforts with a 2007 City of Casey Volunteer Award.
Ms Lucas has been a Soroptimist for 23 years and enjoyed time with the Mentone club before moving to Narre Warren and joining the Berwick organisation.
The 75-year-old continues to give up her time for the good of the community and is involved as treasurer in both the Friends of Wilson Botanic Park and the Berwick Benevolent Society.
Ms Lucas said she was surprised and humbled to be presented with the award from those nominated in the Family and Community Support section.
“It was wonderful to see the number and diversity of volunteers giving of their time but, like myself, finding the experience rewarding and worthwhile, not expecting any personal recognition,” she said.
The Soroptimist Club also acknowledged Ms Lucas with a function to celebrate her achievements and contribution to the community.
