Abraham email investigation

By Cam Scott
CLAIMS of deception against Four Oaks Ward councillor Roland Abraham are now being investigated by police.
A contingent of his fellow councillors took their concerns to Narre Warren police last Thursday, requesting that detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit review the circumstances surrounding an email Cr Abraham presented to council in support of his request to have a university course funded by council.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ian Wilcox and Detective Sergeant Garry Kear both confirmed that a council delegation had approached Narre Warren police last Thursday.
“The matter has been reported to us and at this stage it’s being investigated,” Det Sgt Kear said.
Cr Abraham said this week he was no more concerned about his personal situation now than before the police were involved.
“Not at all, because I’ve got nothing to hide,” he said.
“Like the VEC, it was all smoke and mirrors. It just seems to me again to be one of those Liberal plots.
“I’ve always said that I welcome any investigation.
“Any investigation that’s got to be done has got to be done.
“The police will do what they have to do.
“Obviously it’s a game for some people, but there’s obviously ramifications for those games.
“At the end of the day there are ramifications for making unfounded statements.”
This will be the second investigation into Cr Abraham’s council activities during his time on council.
Earlier this year Cr Abraham was found not guilty of providing false and misleading information to the Victorian Electoral Commission about where he lived during the 2003 council elections.
