A TASTE of Asia descended on ICA Casey College last month with an array of cultural delights on offer.
China was the favoured flavour at the Narre Warren South school as students took part in a week full of activities relating to the specialised unit.
The unit consisted of many different eventful and exciting activities relating to China’s culture, art and language.
Teacher Jo Sirca said the curriculum at Casey College had been designed with a focus on promoting community and school spirit.
“In an attempt to link and engage children into the language program of Mandarin, a unit of work called Dynasties and Dragons Dragons was studied,” Ms Sirca said.
She said the delicious tasting Chinese food, which the students helped prepare along with the assistance of local restaurateur and chef Jason Bradford from Nush, topped off the event.
“Jason not only kindly donated both his time and expertise, but also provided the children with a show bag of Chinese treats, leaving the students with a real flavour of the exotic cuisine,” Ms Sirca said.
