High time for tips

GUESTS at Cardinia Shire Council’s first business breakfast for 2010 came away with a list of top tips from the man behind some of Australia’s great business success stories.
More than 80 guests attended the breakfast held at the Cardinia Cultural Centre on Wednesday 17 February.
They were treated to an enthralling address by Geoff Harris, co-founder of the Flight Centre, and a key player behind the success of Boost Juice, Top Deck Travel and the Hawthorn Football Club.
Mr Harris spoke about his experiences in building businesses from the ground up and passed on his top 20 leadership tips.
Breakfasters also took part in a networking session and relished the opportunity to hear Mr Harris unveil his secrets to creating successful and sustainable businesses. “Have fun, be proud of your business and enjoy the journey,” Mr Harris told guests after recommending regular goal setting and evaluation, a positive approach and challenging complacency as just a few ways to help enjoy success in business.
Council business development officer Frances Grigoriou said she was pleased with the positive response and encouraged business people across Cardinia Shire to support this year’s business breakfasts. “It’s a great chance to get together with other business people, share ideas and catch up with what’s happening in business.”
The breakfast was sponsored by Hawthorn Football Club.
