Call out for more cans

PAKENHAM Probus Club donated food, toys and cash to the 4Cs foodbank last Friday.
Secretary Ruth Buckley said most of the club’s 120 members brought an item for the charity to the Probus Club’s annual Christmas break-up.
“We had about half a dozen boxes full of food, milk, a few biscuits, just general things,” she said.
“One lady brought two bags full of teddy bears and cuddly things and we collected more than $100.”
Ms Buckley said the club dropped the goodies off at the 4Cs foodbank the same afternoon.
4Cs co-ordinator Jeni Mathieson said about 2500 cans of food had been donated to the charity since the campaign began.
The food bank urgently needs another 1500 cans of food as Christmas hampers will be given to needy local families from next week.
General groceries like canned vegetables, packets of rice and pasta, long-life milk, and Christmas items like biscuits and puddings can be donated at collection points at the Pakenham 4Cs Foodbank, Battery Zone, Cardinia Shire Council offices, Star News Group Pakenham office, Ritchies IGA Pakenham, Sign-a-rama Pakenham, Cardinia Foundation, Kooweerup IGA Plus Liquor or Lang Foodworks.
