A BERWICK man has been charged with cannabis offences after police busted a sophisticated drug ring last week.
Police searched 15 premises across the south-east on Tuesday, seizing about 1000 cannabis plants, 60 pounds of dried cannabis, $75,000 in cash, excavators, a bobcat, motorcycles, cars and $100,000 in other assets. Police arrested a 39-year-old Berwick man after seizing hydroponic equipment, cannabis plants and $6000 in cash from a Hardy Court, Berwick address.
The man has been charged with trafficking cannabis, cultivating cannabis, theft and possessing proceeds of crime, and has been bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court at a later date. A 48-year-old Narre Warren woman was also charged with cultivating commercial quantities of cannabis. Police also searched premises in Tecoma, Frankston, Skye, Greensborough, Upwey, and Ferntree Gully.
