Kids spread the word on health

CARDINIA Shire mayor Bill Pearson has personally awarded students from four primary schools for encouraging their peers to eat well and be active.
Cr Pearson handed the students certificates and badges, and shared a healthy morning tea, for their efforts.
Twenty-four students from Pakenham Consolidated, Pakenham Hills, Pakenham Springs and St Patrick’s primary schools were recognised for their part in the Go for your life, Being Active Eating Well project.
The initiative encourages children to be aware of the links between life long healthy eating habits and the importance of being active.
Cr Pearson emphasised the importance of physical activity in daily life.
“I encourage all children to be involved with sporting activities, especially team sports because they are such a great way to meet mates and feel connected with their community,” he said.
