Youth have their say

YOUNG people in Cardinia will get to have their say about the issues they face and what they feel can be done to solve them.
The Cardinia Shire Council is conducting a survey to get the opinions of young people, who live, work and recreate in the municipality.
Its youth services team is keen to hear from young people aged 10 to 25, and is aiming to get 2000 young people to complete the survey.
The survey is open until Friday 4 September and is accessible both online and in hard copy, and forms part of Cardinia Shire Council’s annual Youth Forum.
Youth development officer Kerrie Loveless said the team was interested in getting a first-hand account of the issues facing young people. “We want to learn more about what young people do on weekends and evenings, and how they get there, as well as their aspirations for the future,” she said.
The survey results will be used to help represent local young people’s views to the council, other youth agencies and levels of government. The two page survey is being distributed through schools, on MYBus, the council’s new mobile youth facility, and sent to places where young people hang out or visit.
