New computers help learners

MEMBERS of Pakenham’s U3A are keeping up to speed thanks to new computers.
The State Government recently handed over a $5700 grant to the seniors group to help with the upgrade.
The group’s president, Ron Topp, said the group was happy to finally have access to computers with the more recent Vista operating system.
“We’ve had such a demand for it,” he said.
Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato said the new computer system would greatly benefit Pakenham U3A which is experiencing increased demand for more classes with a membership of about 250.
“Under the fantastic leadership of president Ron Topp, seniors are enjoying the opportunity to learn new skills and become familiar with computer programs,” she said.
“This grant will go a long way towards improving the facilities at the centre and allowing more people to enjoy computer classes.”
Ms Lobato and Minister for Senior Victorians Lisa Neville recently had lunch with the students and inspected the new computer system.
