Police slam boozer drivers

PAKENHAM’S top traffic cop, Cardinia Traffic Management Unit’s Sergeant Nigel Atkins has labelled the outcome of a booze bus operation as “atrocious”, with one in 75 motorists caught over the legal limit.
Police tested 451 drivers at a booze bus on the Princes Highway, near Racecourse Road, on Saturday from 7pm to midnight, and nabbed six drink drivers.
Sgt Atkins said he was appalled that five of the six motorists were Pakenham residents.
“All these people must be ashamed of themselves for their irresponsible actions,” he said.
“The recent outcome is atrocious to say the very least and only confirms to me the absolute, blatant ignorance and non-prudent behaviours by some in our community, of our road rules, which we must all abide by to keep our roads safe.”
