Olympic swimmer Brooke Hanson will wow the crowd at the Cardinia Business Awards 2009 gala dinner on 8 May.Olympic swimmer Brooke Hanson will wow the crowd at the Cardinia Business Awards 2009 gala dinner on 8 May.

THE Cardinia Shire Council has put out a final call for entries for its annual business awards.
Fourteen separate awards, including the Business of the Year Award, will celebrate the achievements of local and home based businesses and small and larger trade and professional operations in the municipality.
To be eligible, business must have been operating in Cardinia Shire for a minimum of 12 months.
Entries close on Tuesday 14 April.
The awards will be judged by an independent panel and presented at a red carpet, gala dinner at the Cardinia Cultural Centre in May.
Olympic gold medallist Brooke Hanson will be guest speaker.
Council economic development officer Phil Jackson said the event recognised the diversity of businesses in the shire.
“The awards are Cardinia’s flagship business event and winners share in $5000 cash prizes and receive a certificate, plus winners’ logos to use in their promotions,” he said.
Mr Jackson also commented that the entry process is an opportunity for local business operators to reflect on their achievements.
“In the current difficult economic times, a review could be beneficial,” he said.
“We have some great local businesses and through the Cardinia Business Awards, council and the community can recognise, encourage and promote the benefits of supporting local businesses.”
