Parents told to keep track of teenagers

PAKENHAM police are urging parents to keep track of their teenage children, amid concerns about underage drinking in the Cardinia Shire.
Acting Senior Sergeant Ray de Reus said underage drinking was a serious problem in the municipality, with police regularly coming across a number of underage youths going to and from parties.
“We are very concerned – we are talking about youths aged 14 or 15 years old consuming alcohol with very little parental supervision or knowledge,” he said.
“It is concerning to see underage females well under the influence of alcohol.
“Transport is also an issue; after hours there are only a few taxis on the road.”
Sen Sgt de Reus urged parents to be aware of their children’s whereabouts at all times.
“Know where your kids are going and check and ring the parent to see if they are supervising,” he said.
