Lakeside Fun Run

UNKIND weather didn’t stop almost 300 people taking to the track for the annual Lakeside Fun Run on Sunday.
The event, which catered to all ages and fitness levels with a four kilometre walk and four and eight kilometre runs, raised funds for the YMCA Open Doors initiative.
Run co-ordinator Mel Overdyk said while the cold weather affected numbers, the event was a success and funds raised would assist local disadvantaged people.
“We had almost 100 people register on the day despite the rain and that was pleasing. It was a successful event and well supported by the Pakenham community,” she said.
Pete Macknamara ran across the line first in the Men’s open category, while Brenda Watts took out the Women’s open. Other 4km first placings were: Mal Watts (Men Over 50), Anne Cox (Women’s Over 50), Ben Kelly (Men’s Junior) and Jess Cox (Women’s Junior).
First placings for the 8km run: Iseyas Hialu (Men’s Open), Teresa Santamaria (Women’s Open), Michael Dale (Men’s over 50), Lynette Arnel (Women’s Over 50) and Shannon Cox (Men’s Junior).
