ONE in 46 drivers stopped at a booze bus on McGregor Road on Sunday were over the legal blood alcohol limit.
Sergeant Nigel Atkins of Cardinia’s Traffic Management Unit said the strike rate was “appalling”.
“People should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. We can’t improve road safety without the support of the community,” he said.
“With these results, you can expect to see more booze buses and more breath testing activity around the shire.”
Sgt Nigel Atkins also said police were disappointed by the number of licence suspensions.
As of Monday, police had confiscated 27 licences from drivers clocked at more than 25km/h above the speed limit.
“We are taking 35 to 40 licences every month – and that’s just the ones we catch,” Sgt Atkins said.
