PAKENHAM people have a chance to take a trip through time.
A prize collection of historical artefacts and memorabilia has been opened to the public by the Berwick/Pakenham Historical Society.
Residents have been invited to the society’s headquarters each Sunday from 2pm 4.30pm to delve into a fascinating and varied collection.
The displays include items from former local businesses, personal artefacts belonging to early settlers and from the war years, machinery and tools relating to early farming in the district and an extensive collection of books, photos and manuscripts.
Historical society secretary Audrey Dodson said residents were encouraged to visit its displays in the former Shire of Berwick building on the corner of Princes Highway and Main Street, Pakenham.
“We’d like people to come and see a bit of the area’s local history,” Mrs Dodson said.
